Dental implants · Addiscombe, Croydon
Tired of a denture that moves, rubs or needs adhesive? A few dental implants can hold it firmly in place so you can eat, talk and smile with confidence. Planned with a 3D CBCT scan at 202 Lower Addiscombe Road.
An implant-retained denture (sometimes called a snap-on denture or overdenture) clips onto dental implants in your jaw. The implants stop the denture lifting or sliding, but you can still take it out each night to clean it. It is a popular choice for people whose lower denture never feels secure.
The lower jaw gives a denture little to grip. Even two implants can make it feel far more secure.
Less movement means less rubbing, and many people no longer need fixative.
A secure denture makes it easier to enjoy a meal with family and friends without worrying.
Many families ask on behalf of a parent. A clip-on denture is still easy to remove and clean, and we can talk through what suits their health and routine.

For a lower denture, two implants can make a big difference and four add extra stability. Upper dentures usually need four or more. Your scan and examination decide what is right for you.
Sometimes. If it fits well and is in good condition, clips may be added to it. Otherwise a new denture is made to fit the implants.
Age alone is rarely the deciding factor. Your general health, your bone and how easily you can keep the area clean matter more. We will discuss this with you openly.
Implants are placed under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Some tenderness afterwards is normal. We do not offer sedation.
Implants are very rarely available on the NHS. We provide them privately, and NHS dentures remain an option we can discuss.
