Straighten Your Smile with Specialist Care

At Croydon Dental Practice, we’re proud to offer NHS dental services for patients who qualify. Our goal is to provide high-quality, accessible dental care to the community, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to maintain a healthy smile — regardless of budget.

What is NHS Dental Care?

NHS (National Health Service) dental care covers clinically necessary treatments designed to maintain and restore oral health. This includes check-ups, preventive advice, fillings, crowns, dentures, and extractions.

Cosmetic procedures (such as teeth whitening or veneers) are not covered under NHS care unless they are clinically required.

Who Can Access NHS Dentistry?

You are entitled to NHS dental care if you are:

  • A UK resident
  • Registered with an NHS dentist
  • Eligible under NHS guidelines

You may also qualify for free NHS dental treatment if you meet certain criteria such as:

  • Under 18 (or under 19 and in full-time education)
  • Pregnant or have had a baby in the last 12 months
  • Receiving low-income benefits (e.g. Universal Credit, Income Support, Pension Credit)
  • Holding a valid HC2 certificate

Please bring proof of exemption during your appointment.

NHS Dental Charges (England)

NHS dental treatment is split into 3 standard bands:

  • Band 1 – £25.80
Includes an examination, diagnosis (e.g. X-rays), preventive advice, and a scale and polish if clinically needed.
  • Band 2 – £70.70
Covers everything in Band 1 plus treatments like fillings, root canal therapy, and extractions.
  • Band 3 – £306.80
Includes all Band 1 and 2 treatments, plus more complex procedures like crowns, dentures, and bridges.

What’s Not Covered Under NHS

The NHS does not cover cosmetic treatments that are not clinically necessary. If you’re interested in:

  • Teeth whitening
  • Veneers
  • Smile makeovers
  • Invisalign® or AddaSmile Clear Aligners

We offer these privately and will provide a clear treatment plan and transparent pricing.

Switching from NHS to Private

You can choose to mix NHS and private treatment if needed. For example, you may have a check-up under the NHS and opt for cosmetic enhancements privately.

  • Our team will clearly explain your options during your consultation.
